What documents are required to enter Portugal
Valid passport or travel document: The document must be valid until three months after the planned date of departure from the Schengen territory, and must have been issued during the ten years immediately before the date of entry. Each individual who needs a visa must submit a separate application, including any family members listed in your passport.
Etias: From 2026 on, if you do not have a valid visa, you will need ETIAS to visit Portugal (note: Citizens/residents of Schengen countries do not need ETIAS). The new ETIAS requirement applies to citizens from the US, Canada, UK, Australia and others. To check the full list, please click here.
Visa: If you're not from a visa-exempt country (this applies to citizens of India, China and more), you do not need ETIAS to travel to Portugal. Instead, you need to apply for a Schengen visa. To check the full list of nationalities requiring a visa, please click here.
